Getting Started

Finally to the nitty-gritty.

First, the link, http://apps.facebook.com/wizard_/.

Then of course, click on allow.

You'll be prompted with three choices: Let's call them raven haired, broken wand and bookworm.

This is where the planning mentioned earlier comes into play. Because each character has distinct strengths and weaknesses, it's best to choose accordingly with the way you want to play this game.

Raven haired generates:
Energy - 3 minutes
Health - 2 minutes
Stamina - 4 minutes
Gold - 60 minutes

Broken wand generates:
Energy - 2 minutes
Health - 2 minutes
Stamina - 3 minutes
Gold - 80 minutes

Bookworm generates:
Energy - 3 minutes
Health - 3 minutes
Stamina - 2 minutes
Gold - 60 minutes

If you would like to duel more, then bookworm would be the best choice since she can generate stamina every 2 minutes.

If you'd rather do lessons, which is my favorite way to play the game, you need energy. So broken wand would be the first choice although his poor performance in gold may frustrate you later, because you'll need a lot of money to finish lessons.

Raven-haired is a balanced character and I particularly wouldn't choose him, but if you must choose him, I would say he's better suited at dueling, since he can generate health every 2 minutes.

There are other characters you can choose from, but not right now. After you made your choice, remember to put the name for your character on the field next to where you click "Start Playing". (for some strange reason there's lots of people with default names)

If you mess up, go to the application page, remove SoW and reinstall it. It will prompt for you to set it up again.

Next step is to invite your friends to your order. This game has no minimum order member requirement in order to play it. But, the bigger your order is, the better you'll be a dueling/defending yourself. I would say invite all your friends and beg them to install the game, whether they play it or not, it doesn't matter. You just need the headcount.

If you don't mind strangers in your Facebook account, go for the Mass Add lists (where you can invite hundreds of people at once) and/or Add Me threads in the forums all over Facebook and on the SoW application page discussion forum.

  1. would it work to say be broken wand over night and generate more energy and then wake up and change to bookworm to duel away the day? Is there a limit to the uninstall/reinstall trick?

  2. Not that I know of. I've done it several times and never had a problem doing it. Of course one day, if you ever get a more advanced character (those that cost 2500 hall passes and up) you'll have to stop doing that.

  3. just did a little test, and found that you should always be in bookworm character vs. broken wand when collecting rent. you will get back the amount that he doesn't on the slower time table.

  4. You mean you can play all you want with Broken-Wand and when you want to collect rent, if you switch back to Bookworm you'll get more rent then what Broken-Wand accumulated?

  5. yes. The game calculates the time you have been gone (hours for rent/minutes for energy) and when you switch characters it forgets that you were ever a different character and just calculates your stats based on time.
So for instance, on one profile, I set broken wand to be up while I was asleep and he earned energy and 1,510,000. I used up all the energy and then switched to bookworm and had 2,135,000 gold.
On my 2nd profile, I also set him to earn energy over night. But instead of spending it 1st, I switched over to her. I went from 260 energy to 187 energy earned in 8.67 hours.

All very good to know, and nice to do when everything is working right. But yesterday I was trying to change back to collect rent and it took me over an hour of delete/allow sequence because it would freeze after the allow and then when I refreshed it had put me back in the game as whoever I was when I left.

  6. sharing this with you here so we can share it on the forum together. You no longer have to uninstall/reinstall the application to change you characters. this will save time and the annoyance factor when the application refuses to load the right screen.

all you need is this link and you can change your character at will. http://apps.facebook.com/wizard_/tutorial/create?skipinterstitial=1

So I use raven hair for dueling, best pros with out the con. Bookworm for dueling when I need stamina built back fast ( you know when cash is laying around) and either of them can collect better rent.
Broken wand for lessons for his energy gathering.
    Happy wizarding.

  7. Wicked. Thanks graceunderautism. I'm gonna put a link from the FAQ to this section since you also explain what happens and what doesn't when you are switching characters so often. Thank you again.

  8. Things have changed recently. The advantages to switching for picking up rent, or regenerating certain energy/health/stamina remain the same.

However, the energy/stamina/health do not increase/decrease any longer when switching characters. The clocks to readjust though, so if you were right at 4 minutes with raven haired on energy and switch to Broken wand, you will be down to waiting 2 minutes.

I will do an experiment later to see if the uninstall/reinstall makes a difference in this vs. clicking the shortcut link.

  9. It seems that the developers may have tweaked the programming to keep us from changing for free. I will get back to you after a few more trials.

  11. The link above for changing character was working fine yesterday.... but just tried it again now and was redirected back to my wizard home page. Reckon someone got wise and stopped it?

  12. The Character change doesn't seem to be working, Broken? or did they just fix it so people would spend 200 passes to change a character?

  13. @ Lesley, Damien - FAQ Post - Question #1 - but to make it short, yes, they fixed it.

  14. I've just changed my character from Raven-haired to Broken wand and back to Raven-haired using the link that graceunderautism provided above. I hope it doesn't stop working for me...

  15. I've tried changing my character today and it has stopped working for me...oh well, it was still good for the time that it lasted.
