First a little disclaimer - I am not affiliated in any way to the game's developer. I'm just a player, like you, who stumbled upon this new and very addicting Facebook game.
What I intend to do with this blog is to help people that might have just started playing the game with little tips and advices so you don't feel overwhelmed. I have some experience with this type of games, I've been playing Mafia Wars (If you don't know what Mafia Wars is, no problem) for a couple of months now, and School of Wizardry is basically a Mafia Wars set in a... School of Wizardry.
Between you and me, we all know the name of the school, but.... since the H name is nowhere to be found in the game, I will called it SoW.
Finally one last note: the game is new, so the developer is still working and making changes to it, some for better, some for worse. So a tip or advice given here might suddenly become obsolete. Hopefully I will find out, or someone will let me know, and I'll correct it.

What is the point of stamina? I don't get close to going through all of mine, even if I go through all my of my Health and Energy. Is it worth using skill points on?
ReplyDeleteStamina combined with Health is what allows you to Duel. Basically in order to duel you need at least 1 Stamina and 1 Health.
ReplyDeleteIf you're not using all of your stamina before you run out of health, it means you have too much stamina.
Your options are:
1. If you're a good dueler, and win most of your duels, balance the health and stamina in the way that the last stamina you use will consume the last health point you have.
2. Increase your TAP and TDP (total attack points and total defense points) by acquiring more item/magic/creature to boost both your attack and defense to cause a 10 damage to your enemy and suffer only 1 damage to your health (this is the best result you can achieve in dueling and note how you only use 1 health for 1 stamina)
As for whether is worth spending you skill points in stamina, I haven't increased my stamina for the last 200 levels I played. So I'm biased when it comes to the Energy vs. Stamina debate.
Read all the sections of this blog (particularly when I talk about strategy), and you'll eventually see what I'm talking about.
Thank you for your help. I think I have figured out my Health to Stamina ratio and have determined that increasing other areas is best for now.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get magic without spending your hall passes?? Is there a trick? I know some levels of lessons say like 20% till whatever magic but how many times to you have to do that in order to get the magic you need??? Please help! I cant go any further in the game without alot of magic. Thanks!!!

No tricks. Keep repeating the lesson until you find the magic and the quantity you need. The harder ones will be Incendio(18%) and Aguamenti(6%). I made some reference to them here: http://schoolofwizardry.blogspot.com/2009/11/contact-developer.html

ReplyDeleteYou mean level 19? At most you'll need 5 Incendio spells, that's not so bad.
ReplyDeleteIf you hover your mouse over the spell that has a yellow border around it, it will tell which lesson you have to do in order to find the spell. Just repeat that lesson until you get enough spells.

ReplyDeleteWhat happens if my hall passes suddenly disappear? I had over 1000 awhile ago and it dwindled to 800 something. Also, why is it that people I had just dueled and won tons of money from (who haven't really leveled up, increased their order, or purchased more valuable items) are now making me suffer 10 damage when just a few minutes ago I was taking 10 damage from them?
ReplyDeleteAre you going to update all the info when the changes are made on the game? The images of the main characters are changing and so are the names of all the lessons and the items in the magic store. I still use this to see ahead what magic items I need to buy. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying for the past 3 hours to play this game. I was sent an invite and I love 'Harry Potter' so I accepted. It takes 2to4 min for each page to load, if it loads. I read your Quick Start Guide which was very helpful. Finnally got to the home page but when I clicked on Lessons it will not load,rather it goes to the login and then tells me it can not display the page. I have tried multiple times. I went to settings to cancel the fast load to see if that would help but it won't let me change it. I am not a new player to FB games. I play VW,MW,FT,FV,CA,IP and some others. I really want to play SoW but am so frustrated that I am going to quit for now and try later. Can you give me any suggestions??????
