Duels - Calculating TAP and TDP

In order to face an opponent and always win the duel, you must have both TAP and TDP higher than your opponent. The computer will always assign the strongest items / magic / creatures to be used in duel first, so you don't have to worry about equipments.

Here are the formulas to calculate Total Attack Points (TAP) and Total Defense Points (TDP) in the game. Formulas in italics are assumptions (I'm basically making an educated guess based on other characters).

Raven Haired (high defense):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points) * 1.1

Broken-Wand (no modifiers related to duel):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points)

Bookworm (high attack, low defense):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points) * 1.1
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points) * 0.9

Blond Kid (high attack):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points) * 1.1
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points)

Blonde Girl (high defense):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points) * 1.1

Crossed Arm Guy (high attack):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)*1.1
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points)

Black Haired Woman (no modifiers related to duel):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points)

Big Blond Guy (ultra attack):
TAP = (Attack Points from Items + Individual Attack Points)*1.3
TDP = (Defense Points from Items + Individual Defense Points)

Thanks to Sougata Som for figuring it out and also for finding out Big Blond Guy bonus attack info.

P.S.  If you play with any of the premium characters (except blonde kid) and would like to share the info, please let me know. You don't have to do the calculations, I can do it myself. Just need the data. And I promise the info received will be kept confidential. Just let me know that you want to share it by leaving a comment on the blog.

  1. It seems that the new weightage given to individual attack and defense points is 64. I'm currently using the Broken Wand character. My stats are as follows:

    Order size: 64
    TAP = 3722
    TDP = 3956

    IAP = 25
    Attack from items = 1945

    IDP = 25
    Defense from items = 2356

    I have more than 20 Pensieves, so I also get the 5% attack bonus.
    Thus, the following holds true for me:
    TAP = 1.05* ( 64*IAP + Attack from items)
    TDP = ( 64*IDP + Defense from items )

    Of course, the 1.05 multiplier won't be there in general. Please check whether the formula holds for the other characters or not (after multiplying all IAP and IDP with 64 in the old formulas).

  2. I do hope that things change though. Weightage of 64 is ridiculous!

  3. 64 is not a constant number. So basically what they did is that your IAP/IDP is multiplied by your order size and everything else still holds true.

    So at the moment:

    TAP=(Order size * IAP + Attack Pts from Items) * whatever bonuses you have.

    TDP=(Order size * IDP + Defense Pts from Items) * whatever bonuses/penalties you have.

    I'm gonna wait to see if it will ever change.

  4. I play the "Black Haired Woman." I believe there are no modifiers while dueling, but let me know what data you need and how much data.

  5. @ chrisacct While logged into your facebook account I need you to go to this link http://apps.facebook.com/wizard_/items and copy and paste the whole summary (the yellow writing you can read) so I can take a look at the numbers. If you prefer, you can just email me the info if you don't want your stats to become public knowledge. I would really appreciate it.

  6. so, is this new way true? You don't just add your individual points to the points from items? you first multiply the individual points by the number of order members you have? crucial info if true!

    there's someone i've been trying to beat in a duel because they're my first actual challenge! normally, i win. but, if using these stats, once i change my character from broken wand i should be winning (because of the opponent's current 10% attack bonus as raven haired, which i'm lacking).

    is there no way we can change character without spending hall points? i kind of got stuck with broken wand because as i was testing out the differences in the different characters by using the link provided on this site, i was just using broken-wand and couldn't switch back to my original character anymore. is there NO way to change back without spending my precious hall passes? i don't know how i can get more..i'm level 37 and have 214 hall passes but wanted to save for one of the more expensive characters - seems like i'll never get there - ESPECIALLY if i spend 200 to change characters now.

    let me know if anyone knows if there is a way to change characters without hall passes.

  7. No. Ignore the comments, they are obsolete now. That formula only lasted like 3 days.

    There's no way to change characters at this moment (not that I know of) without spending hall passes. Check out the hall passes post to see how you can get more hall passes.
